Within a week of the very first alt.news meeting of Season 15, we had already planned the open, selected a host, got a crew together, constructed a laboratory, and shot the open (even wrapping six hours ahead of schedule). Much of this happened over one weekend. But, of course, that doesn’t mean we are taking any breaks this weekend.
Before we get to what is coming up for alt.news, though, lets go back to the weekend of August 31-September 1, when we shot our open. This open’s theme is “mad scientist,” and we selected Speech Communication major Douglas Sommer to play the part for the rest of the season. He and his two assistants worked in a laboratory filled with the very creepy, to old, dusty tech.
I can’t tell you what they were working on in that lab, though. You’ll have to tune in to the first episode of alt.news for that.
We welcomed a lot of new crew members to set, and hope to see you all again on future shoots! We hope to see your faces again next week at our meeting on Tuesday at 8:00 p.m. in Studio A, and also at our….
…Production Workshop! We are holding a production workshop tomorrow (Saturday) in Studio A from 1:00 to 4:00 p.m. We will be covering lighting, camera, and audio, so if you are at all interested in television production, be sure to show up! You will learn a lot of valuable skills (and also some specifics regarding our workflow here at alt.news).
alt.news is also traveling to Memphis, TN, and New Orleans, LA, to shoot a segments on FreakShow Deluxe and the National Beard and Moustache Championships, respectively, this weekend. Season 15 is definitely off to a running start!
